The all-new next-generation international market Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor have both been revealed over the past couple of months, and both models are scheduled to launch in the U.S. in 2023. In the meantime, however, the current-gen Ranger is still going strong, with the introduction of the new Splash Package and Splash Limited Edition models for the 2022 model year. Ford has also been adding a number of Ranger parts to its ever-growing catalog, and the latest is this – a 2019-2022 Ford Ranger skid plate kit.
Sold under part number M-5018-RA, the 2019-2022 Ford Ranger skid plate kit comes finished in silver and retails for $310. It fits all current-gen four-wheel drive pickups that didn’t come equipped with the factory-fitted FX4 Off-Road Package, though it can also be installed on two-wheel drive models equipped with Ford Performance Tow Hooks – which are sold under part number M-18954-RA in red and M-18954-RAB for blue.
The Ranger skid plate kit is made from steel and provides protection for vital components located in the front of the vehicle – most importantly, the engine oil pan – from obstacles that might be incurred off-road, such as large pointy rocks. Skid plates are a common sight on off-road-focused vehicles these days, and add a nice, rugged look to the front of the Ranger, to boot.
This new skid plate kit joins a number of recent additions to the Ford Performance catalog for the Ford Ranger, which already include an off-road front bumper by ARB, a red windshield banner, black ovals, and a modified Ranger Tremor front grille, to name a few, giving owners a number of ways to personalize their pickups.
