The Ford Mustang Mach-E has been a hot commodity since its launch, with dealer inventory turning in just 14 days as the EV crossover remains one of the most considered all-electric vehicles on the market, the third-most financed EV, and even one of the fastest-selling used vehicles. Strong demand has prompted Ford to stop taking orders for some 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E models already, but those that do purchase one will find that the crossover is bound to hold its value quite well, as it has now secured a Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Award.
The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E took home KBB’s Best Resale Value Award in the Electric Vehicle category, beating out its rivals with the highest projected resale value over five years in its class. The Mach-E is expected to retain 37.9 percent of its value over that time period, which is important news for consumers who may not realize that depreciation is often the biggest expense associated with owning a new vehicle.
Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Awards are based on projections from the organization’s Official Residual Value Guide. Residual Values are established by automotive analysts that review the output from statistical models built upon millions of transactions. Vehicles that earn the highest five-year residual values, expressed as a percentage of their original MSRP, are selected for these awards. Low-volume vehicles are excluded from award consideration, except in the electric, luxury, and sports car categories. Residual values reflect projected future auction values for vehicles in average condition with 75,000 miles at the end of a five-year lease or ownership period.
This is just the latest distinction earned by the Mach-E, which was also recently named one of the most satisfying vehicles to own by Consumer Reports members and also won CR‘s 2022 Top EV Pick award, beating out the Tesla Model 3, which had taken home that honor for the prior two consecutive years, an accomplishment CEO Jim Farley is admittedly quite proud of.
