Though 2022 Ford Super Duty retail order banks are closed and a refreshed 2023 model is on the way, the current, profit-generating pickup is still racking up its fair share of accolades. Recently, those include a Kelley Blue Book 2022 Best Resale Value Award (for the entire Ford F-Series lineup), landing as the top ranking large heavy-duty truck in J.D. Power’s 2022 U.S. APEAL Study, and finishing as the third most-considered pickup in KBB’s Q1 2022 Brand Watch report. Now, the 2022 Ford Super Duty has ranked among the top five most considered pickups in Kelley Blue Book’s Q2 2022 Brand Watch report, joining the Ford F-150 in that regard, as well as the Ford Maverick and the Ford brand itself.
The top considered vehicles list is one component of KBB’s quarterly Brand Watch report, which is a consumer perception survey that weaves in shopping behavior to determine how a brand or model stacks up with its segment competitors based on a dozen factors key to a consumer’s buying decision. Kelley Blue Book produces separate Brand Watch reports for non-luxury and luxury brands each quarter.
This time around, the 2022 Ford Super Duty finished fourth on the top five list of the most considered pickups on the market, ranking behind the segment-leading Chevy Silverado 1500, Ford F-150, and Toyota Tacoma, but ahead of the GMC Sierra 1500.
Meanwhile, the number of shoppers considering a pickup truck in general declined in Q2 as well, from 35 percent in Q1 to 33 percent this past quarter. This is nothing unusual, however, as Q2 2021 produced a pickup consideration score of 31 percent, and KBB notes that pickup truck sales tend to be stronger in the second-half of the year than the first.
