While most 2022 Ford Maverick owners will likely keep their mini trucks on the street, a whole new world opens up by ticking off the right boxes. Specifically, the Ford 2.0L EcoBoost I-4, all-wheel drive, and FX4 Off-Road Package boxes. That’s not to say more couldn’t be done for the hardiest version of the Maverick, though. The Blue Oval is bringing over 40 custom builds to SEMA 2021, including the Air Design Maverick, one of three Maverick builds in the mix.
Based in Oceanside, California, Air Design USA offers off-road styling kits for all sorts of rigs, including the Ford F-150, F-250 Super Duty, and Ford Ranger. Now, it’s the Maverick’s turn to receive attention by the company. Their canvas is a red Lariat SuperCrew FX4 with the aforementioned 2.0L EcoBoost and, of course, all-wheel drive. From there, Air Design USA applied a new off-road styling kit for the Maverick, including fender flares, door moldings, and a tailgate applique. Of course, there’s always more.
Pulling an already impressive 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, the 2.0L EcoBoost in the Air Design USA Maverick receives a better-flowing cat-back exhaust capped off with black exhaust tips. The Maverick is then taken to new heights with a 1.5-inch lift kit, giving plenty of room for the 18-inch black rims wrapped in 31-inch all-terrain rubber.
To literally cap off this SEMA 2021 build, the Air Design Maverick receives a SnugTop Sport fiberglass bed cap painted to match the body, bringing additional utility and security to the party. Ford all-weather floor mats, roadside assistance kit, rear under-seat storage bins, and a portable fridge complete the package. We can’t wait to see this up close in Las Vegas next week.
