Aside from being the perennially best-selling pickup in the U.S., the Ford F-150 is also routinely one of the most considered pickup trucks on the market and has the highest market share of all U.S. vehicles currently in operation. Most Ford F-150 customers are ordering their new pickups these days, however, while used prices vary more based on geographical area than almost every other model currently on sale. Turns out, that same factor plays a big role in F-150 owner satisfaction, according to new data from Consumer Reports.
This bit of info comes to us from the consumer organization’s Annual Owner Satisfaction Report, which asks owners whether or not they’d buy the same vehicle again, as well as determining how those owners rate their vehicles in terms of satisfaction across five categories – comfort, styling, value, driving experience, and audio controls. In that regard, the Ford F-150 was one of 11 vehicles that appeared in the top ten of at least two of four geographical regions in the U.S.
The Ford F-150 made the cut as one of the most satisfying vehicles to own among those that reside in the Northeast – where it finished second behind the Tesla Model 3 – and Midwest – where it ranked ninth overall. Consumer Reports noted that the pickup has “a very quiet cabin,” is “super-roomy,” and has responsive handling, a steady and controlled ride, and straightforward controls. Owners also enjoyed the F-150’s innovative features, standard driver-assist features, and easy-to-use SYNC 4 system.
In terms of power, the turbocharged Ford 2.7L V6 EcoBoost powerplant impressed with its “effortless acceleration” and solid fuel economy ratings, while CR also noted that models equipped with the Ford 3.5L V6 PowerBoost hybrid have “loads of power” and return around 20 miles-per-gallon in mixed driving.
