In recent years, blacked-out appearance packages and features have grown in popularity, prompting Ford to add one to a variety of vehicles. This includes a Black Appearance Package for the 2021 Ford Ranger and the 2021 Ford EcoSport SES, along with the Lariat Black Appearance Package for the 2021 Ford Super Duty. Now, sources familiar with the 2022 Ford F-150 launch have said that the light-duty truck will receive several new appearance packages, including the STX Black Appearance Package.
While we don’t have any photos of the 2022 Ford F-150 STX Black Appearance Package to share just yet, we have learned that the package is optional on XL High (101A equipment group) equipped SuperCab and SuperCrew pickups only.
The STX Black Appearance Package is not available with Ford’s base 3.3L Duratec V6, 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with two-wheel drive, 3.5L PowerBoost V6, eight-way power driver’s seat, Heavy-Duty Payload Package, STX Appearance Package, or XL Chrome Appearance Package. The optional package does require a 145-inch wheelbase and either the Class IV Hitch or Trailer Tow Package when ordered in conjunction with Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6.
The optional package adds a host of features to the exterior including body-color front and rear bumpers, a box-side decal (except when ordered with the FX4 Package), black bodyside decals (four-wheel drive and FX4 only, 20-inch gloss black-painted aluminum wheels, black exterior badges, dual exhaust with black tips (SuperCrew, 4×4, and 3.5L EcoBoost only), fog lamps, privacy glass, an electronic rear-window defroster, a matte-black “F-150” tailgate logo, and a molded-in color black honeycomb-style front grille with a body-color surround.
On the inside, the STX Black Appearance Package includes manual lumbar support for the driver and front passenger, seatback pockets, an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4, and unique black sport cloth 40/20/40 seats with a steering column-mounted shifter or optional unique black sport cloth 40/console/40 seats with a flow-through console, steering column-mounted shifter, and two USB charging ports.
