1969 Ford F-100 is Best of Both Worlds; Modern Power and Timeless Vintage Looks

1969 Ford F 100 Is Essentially A Brand New Truck With Modern Blue Oval Power

Restomods have arguably never been hotter than they are today, as more and more folks are seeking the benefits of combining a timeless vintage vehicle with reliable modern mechanical components. This trend has trickled down to the world of trucks as well, particularly as collectors have finally come around and accepted vintage haulers as equals with their passenger car brethren. That’s good news for truck fans, as builds like this gorgeous 1969 Ford F-100, which is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, are popping up for sale now on a regular basis.

The seller has certainly done a ton of work to make this 1969 Ford F-100 far nicer than it was when it rolled off the assembly line. That process started on the outside, where the truck’s body panels were hammered straight and finished with an attractive green and cream two-tone paint job. All of the chrome was refinished, while the glass, trim, and lights were replaced with new parts. Opt7 rock lights and a spray-in bedliner were added during this process, too.

While this was being done, the entire chassis was stripped down to bare metal and painted as well. That provided the perfect platform for a host of suspension modifications, which include Bilstein shocks, a PMF four-link front axle, a traction bar system, lift blocks, a BD adjustable track bar, power steering, and power-assisted four-wheel discs. The vintage pickup rolls on a set of powder-coated 22-inch American Force wheels wrapped with 37×13.50-inch Toyo MT Open Country tires.

While the body of this F-100 retains a mostly stock look, the interior is a different story. The whole thing was replaced with goodies from TMI Products, including a black bench seat, door panels, dash pad, headliner, and carpet. There’s also a host of modern amenities inside including a RetroSound stereo, thumb-recognition engine start system, billet door handles, Restomod climate control, custom under-dash vents, an Ididit adjustable column, billet steering wheel, and Dakota Digital gauges.

Power comes from a modern source as well – a 6.2-liter V8 from a 2014 F-250 Super Duty pickup, which has been dressed up with body-color components. It sends power to either the rear or all four wheels via a 6R140 six-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case, while the axles were replaced with beefy units from a 2008 Super Duty.

The result of all this effort is a truly cool and truly capable old pickup that has been upgraded in all the right places. And that’s precisely what the point of a restomod is – combine the best of what vintage trucks had to offer with everything that makes new trucks so capable.
