The Ford Escape has once again proven to be a popular choice among used car buyers, ranking as the ninth most popular model on iSeeCars’ Most Popular Used Vehicles of 2022 list. The Ford Escape has long been a favorite on the used vehicle market, finishing as the eighth most popular model on iSeeCars’ list in 2021 and accounting for 1.7% of total used car sales.
The Ford F-150, on the other hand, once again topped these rankings by accounting for 3.3 percent of all used vehicle sales in 2022, keeping it ahead of the Chevy Silverado (2.8%), Ram 1500 (2.3%), Chevy Equinox (2.2%), Honda Civic (1.8%), Toyota Camry (1.7%), Toyota RAV4 (1.7%), and Nissan Rogue (1.7%).
The Ford Escape finished one spot lower than last year in ninth, making up 1.5% of all used vehicle sales in 2022 and tying with the Jeep Grand Cherokee (1.5%). To come up with this data, iSeeCars looked at more than 9.8 million one-to-five-year-old used vehicles on the road in 2022 to determine the most popular used cars across the United States.
Ultimately, iSeeCars found that pickup trucks, SUVs, and crossovers continue to represent the preferred used vehicle purchase of choice for American buyers, which is not surprising. The utility and flexibility offered by SUVs are highly attractive to buyers, and it’s reflected in the most popular list. “With more than eight percent of the used car market occupied by the F-150, Silverado, and Ram pickup, there’s no denying America’s love affair with the trucks, despite their relatively low MPG numbers and the higher fuel prices we experienced in 2022,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst.
