2022 Ford Edge Lineup Shifting Entirely to All-Wheel Drive

My Post 62

The 2021 Ford Edge comes equipped with front-wheel drive as standard on SE, SEL, ST-Line, and Titanium trims, while all-wheel drive is available as an option, or as standard equipment on the Edge ST. However, sources familiar with the 2022 Ford Edge launch say that the 2022 Edge will drop front-wheel drive and come equipped exclusively with all-wheel drive across the entire lineup.

This will make the 2022 Ford Edge the third FoMoCo product to be sold exclusively with all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, joining the Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Sport. The 2022 Ford Explorer ST is going in the opposite direction and will be sold with standard rear-wheel drive after it was previously only available with all-wheel drive.

Meanwhile, in Canada, the 2022 Ford Maverick will be sold exclusively with all-wheel drive when equipped with Ford’s 2.0L EcoBoost I-4. The base Maverick hybrid is only available with front-wheel drive, while the EcoBoost-powered pickup comes with standard front-wheel drive in the U.S. or all-wheel drive as an option.

The Ford Edge just received a refresh for the 2021 model year, consisting of minor styling tweaks and a number of tech upgrades. On the outside, the 2021 Edge features an updated rear liftgate with more prominent and relocated “Edge” badging, as well as two newly available exterior colors: Carbonized Gray and Lithium Gray.

Inside, the 2021 Edge is equipped with a new standard, 12-inch infotainment screen, SYNC 4A with connected built-in navigation, cloud connectivity with conversational voice recognition, two additional USB ports, and a digital owner’s manual. New interior trim options for Edge include a Ceramic interior option on Titanium Elite models and a cloth interior option for SEL.
