Given the fact that they’re ultra desirable and valuable, pristine second-gen Ford Broncos are coming out of the woodwork these days, leaving us lusting after them on the sidelines. But that’s because most of us can’t conjure up enough money to actually buy one anymore, which is unfortunate. But then again, we do get to drool over amazing examples like this 1979 Ford Bronco XLT Trailer Special that popped up for sale at Bring a Trailer recently, which features some fine detailing and cool retro touches.
The seller just acquired this beautiful 1979 Ford Bronco last year, and set about refurbishing it to its former glory. That process included repainting the body in its original shade of Dark Jade Metallic Green, as well as adding a set of Free Wheeling stripes that were painted on as well, and they look simply fantastic. The body and paintwork here is simply flawless, accented perfectly by a white top and polished 15-inch eight-hole wheels wrapped with 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires.
The interior is equally gorgeous and green, fitted with optional front captain’s chairs and a folding rear bench, both of which are trimmed in Jade Green vinyl with patterned cloth inserts. A little bit of faux woodgrain trim resides on the dash to break up the sea of green that also adorns the matching dash, center console, door panels, and carpeting. There are enough amenities here to please us simple folks, including air conditioning, a heater, an AM radio, and not much else.
This particular 1979 Ford Bronco is powered by Ford’s 351 cubic-inch V8, which cranks out an underwhelming 156 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, but it’s plenty reliable and perfectly suitable for a cool cruiser like this. After all, driving a vehicle this perfect nowadays is all about enjoying the experience and showing off – let those folks in boring crossovers stress out about navigating traffic as quickly as possible.
