Today, consumers can buy trucks and SUVs that are every bit – if not more – luxurious than any sedan on sale, but it wasn’t always that way. In fact, just a couple of decades ago, the highest trims available on these types of vehicles weren’t terribly luxurious, and oftentimes didn’t even include things like leather interiors or any sort of real comfort features. That certainly applies to this 1995 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, but it’s still one of our personal favorite trim levels of all-time.
This particular 1995 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer has just 49k original miles showing on the odometer and has lived with one owner since 1997, so as one might imagine, it’s in pretty stellar condition as a result. One the outside, that includes the factory Electric Red Metallic paint, which is accented nicely by a tan top and lower bodywork.
The previous owner added a few period mods here and there, including a grille guard, bug deflector, auxiliary lighting, side steps and taillight guards, while the SUV rides on 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 265/75 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires. Inside the cabin, Medium Mocha leather provides a comfy place to sit via two front bucket seats and a rear bench, while a host of luxurious-for-the-time amenities includes an AM/FM CD stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, power-adjustable lumbar support, and power windows and door locks.
Pop the hood, and you’ll find Ford’s tried-and-true 351 V8, which in this guise was originally rated to produce 210 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. That power is routed to either the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
This particular Bronco Eddie Bauer is by no means perfect, as there are a few blemishes inside and out, as well as surface rust underneath – this is a life-long Florida car, after all. But it’s still in pretty fantastic shape for its age, a testament to caring ownership and the fact that this particular utility wasn’t someone’s commuter car for the past quarter-plus century. As a result, it’s a nice reminder of what luxury SUVs used to be.
