As it prepares to enter its second year of production, there aren’t many changes in store for the Ford Bronco Sport. However, sources familiar with the matter have said the names of three 2022 Ford Bronco Sport trim packages – Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Badlands – have been changed due to a change in moonroof availability throughout the lineup.
First up, the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend Package is now called the Convenience Package. This package contains a host of equipment including Intelligent Access with push-button start and a SecuriCode keyless-entry keypad, LED fog lamps, rear parking sensors, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, universal garage door opener, wireless charging pad, and zipper pockets in the front seatbacks.
What was formerly called the Outer Banks Package is now known as the Tech Package, which includes a wireless charging pad, universal garage door opener, HD Radio, and a B&O 10-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.
Finally, the Badlands Package is now called the Premium Package, and it adds a host of features including body-color door handles, rear parking sensors, remote start, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging pad, universal garage door opener, HD Radio, leather-trimmed two-tone seats with mini-perforation, 6-way power passenger leather seats, 4-way manually adjustable head restraints for front-seat occupants, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (DEATC), and a B&O 10-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.
These name changes came about as Ford decided to drop the moonroof from each of these packages, which is now a partially standalone option that can only be paired with these three packages.
The 2022 Bronco Sport – which was recently joined Consumer Reports‘ list of recommended cars – entered production at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant back on November 12th.
