The Ford GT has been treated to a slew of special, limited, Heritage Edition models over its handful of years in production, including, most recently, the 2022 Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition, which pays tribute to the 1964 Ford GT prototypes that gave birth to every GT that has followed, as well as the 2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition, which honors Alan Mann Racing’s Ford GT lightweight experimental prototypes from 1965 and 1966. However, Ford isn’t done rolling out special versions of its supercar just yet, as it just teased another one – the Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition.
Ford didn’t provide too many details about the Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition, outside of the three teaser images seen here. Regardless, the latest GT Heritage Edition model once again pays tribute to Ford’s 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, a legendary result that the Holman Moody team played a big role in by helping to develop the Ford GT40 MK II’s in-race setup, including its braking system.
Holman Moody was a rather large stock car racing outfit prior to being approached by Ford to field a team of GT40s alongside Carroll Shelby, playing an integral role in Ford’s success at Le Mans. However, the story of the Holman Moody team played second fiddle to Shelby’s operations in the movie Ford v. Ferrari, interestingly enough, though this new Heritage Edition aims to pay proper tribute to those efforts.
As such, the GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition will wear that team’s signature gold exterior paint with touches of Heritage Red and an Oxford White number 5 accent. The Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition will be fully revealed this spring, after which it will be available only to approved customers, as is the case with all new GT models.
