For those of us that were of age in the 1980s and 1990s, it’s hard to believe that those very different eras took place decades ago. For many, it seems like only yesterday that we were living in simpler times, driving simpler trucks. Regardless, if you miss those days, this 1989 Ford F-250 up for grabs at Bring a Trailer is sure to conjure up some fond memories at the very least, even if it won’t actually transport you back in time.
A proper time capsule, this 1989 Ford F-250 has somehow survived the past few decades without a hitch, and it currently looks precisely as good as it did when it rolled off the assembly line. Or, rather, as good as it did after it received some cool custom touches that are distinctly period correct. That’s because after it was purchased new at Pundman Motor Company in Saint Charles, Missouri, the original owner had it repainted in a decidedly 1990s multi-color scheme.
In addition to that new look, the F-250 was also treated to a Go Rhino roll bar in the bed with Optilux auxiliary lights, as well as a set of silver 16-inch Progressive wheels wrapped with 295/75 Toyo Open Country tires. It all looks simply fantastic and period correct, and it goes without saying that we don’t often come across vehicles like this that haven’t at least been repainted or updated in terms of visuals.
The rest of this truck is fairly standard and original, including the red cloth interior, though it does sport a Kenwood stereo. The truck also retains its original 5.0-liter V8 that produces 185 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, which flows to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The pickup has received quite a bit of maintenance work in recent months, so it should be good to go, mechanically speaking.
While it won’t appeal to everyone, for some, this 1989 Ford F-250 is a truly cool relic from the not too distant past that we can certainly appreciate. After all, it isn’t every day we come across something oozing with this sort of retro goodness, and we’re thankful this one has managed to avoid being changed much over the last few decades.
