FordāsĀ 5.0L Coyote V8Ā has become an incredibly popular swap candidate for older Blue Oval vehicles, as weāve seen extensively in the past. The modern mill has made its way into all sorts of vintage Fords, includingĀ old F1 pickups,Ā later F-100s, andĀ more than oneĀ classicĀ Ford MustangĀ model, to name just a few. That list also includes this killer Coyote-powered 1949 Ford Tudor, which is currently up for auction atĀ Bring a Trailer.
As one might imagine, this satin burgundy pearl 1949 Ford Tudor has been treated to a whole host of modifications under its classic skin, but one would be hard-pressed to tell by looking at the outside. The old Blue Oval coupe still sports a very vintage and understated look, with satin trim to match its subdued paint job. A set of 15-inch Wheel Vintinques smoothies with dog-dish hubcaps completes the old hot rod look, which is truly timeless.
The coupe does sit much lower than stock, thanks to the addition of a Fatman Fabrication front subframe and QA1 coilovers. A set of Posie super slide leaf springs take up residence out back, while the seller also added a Progressive Automotive Panhard bar, sway bars, power steering, an e-brake, and four-wheel disc brakes to make this vintage machine ride and handle like a newer vehicle.
Those goodies were also needed to handle the extra power coming from the Aronson Motorsports-built Coyote V8, which breathes through a 2.5-inch exhaust and is kept cool via an electric fan and aluminum radiator. The modern motor sends its power to the rear wheels via a 4R70W four-speed automatic transmission and a Mittler Brothers Track 9-inch rear end fitted with Currie axles.
Throw in a brand new black interior with Glide Engineering bench seat, all-new wiring, Dynamat, a Vintage Air HVAC system, Classic Car stereo system, a Grant GT steering wheel, and Dakota Digital instrumentation, and this classic Ford Tudor looks like the ultimate cruiser. With timeless good looks and modern power, itās quite literally the perfect combination.
