The 2025 Mustang GTD has redefined what performance means for Ford’s Mustang lineup. With an astonishing 815 horsepower, 664 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 202 mph, this model is now the most powerful production Mustang ever made for the road.
What sets the GTD apart is its blend of innovative engineering and advanced technology. Equipped with features like active aerodynamics, high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes, and a sophisticated inboard-rear suspension with semi-active dampers, the Mustang GTD is on track to meet Ford’s ambitious goal of completing the Nürburgring in under seven minutes.
Power and Precision
“The Mustang GTD has been a singular focus for our team—delivering supercar performance with the heart and soul of a Mustang,” said Greg Goodall, Chief Program Engineer for the GTD. “At its core is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, offering more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.”
The GTD’s engine builds on previous Mustang designs, incorporating a first-of-its-kind dry-sump oil system. This system ensures the engine stays properly lubricated even during aggressive cornering, which is crucial for maintaining performance at high speeds. The engine also features an elevated maximum rpm of 7,650, an increase of 100 rpm from prior versions. A combination of a refined intake and exhaust, a smaller supercharger pulley, and a titanium exhaust system help boost the vehicle’s performance output.
Advanced Aerodynamics for Maximum Speed
Hitting 202 mph requires more than just raw power—it takes finely tuned aerodynamics. The Mustang GTD comes with a Drag Reduction System that adjusts the rear wing and controls flaps at the car’s front to strike the perfect balance between minimizing drag for top speed and enhancing downforce for better handling when needed.
