Dwayne Johnson, or “The Rock,” as he’s known from his pro wrestling days, has long enjoyed a pretty tight relationship with Ford. Johnson signed an endorsement deal with the automaker a few years ago that was rumored to be worth around $15 million per year. The  very first vehicle The Rock ever owned was a 1977 Ford Thunderbird, and the big-time movie star admits that he’s “been a Ford man ever since.” Thus, it’s no surprise that Johnson recently expressed interest in owning a Ford F-150 Lightning, too.

Johnson recently took to Twitter to respond to Ford CEO Jim Farley’s recent tweet regarding the Ford F-150 Lightning order conversion process. “Well said, Jim! Delivering the goods,” Johnson said. “I have my 350 Super Duty for the farm, but as soon as we all get thru our supply chain dynamic I’ll try the #F150Lightning. Keep delivering for the people and Happy New Year buddy.” Farley responded by saying “@TheRock Appreciate the support! It’s a huge challenge, but we’re making real progress. Plus investing billions in new battery and EV production in America. And I already promised @Schwarzenegger a test ride in a #F150Lightning, so we can pick you up.”

It’s no surprise that Johnson might be in the market for a new vehicle, considering the fact that he’s owned and given away quite a few of them in recent years. Back in 2017, Johnson gifted a new 2018 Ford Mustang GT to an Iraq War veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Then, roughly a year later, he gave his stunt double a custom Ford F-150. Last year, Johnson gifted another F-150 to his lifelong friend and mentor, and gave his own personal Ford F-150 Raptor to a Navy veteran this past Thanksgiving.

At the same time, considering the fact that Ford has admitted it won’t be able to fill all of its F-150 Lightning reservations in the 2022 model year despite ramping up production due to unexpected demand, we’re not so sure if The Rock will be able to get his hands on the all-electric pickup anytime soon. Unless his relationship with Ford is strong enough to move him up the list a little, that is.
