The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is in its final stages of pre-production ahead of a launch this coming spring, and the first wave of order invitations are going out to reservation holders today. And while it’s likely that not all of Ford’s 200,000 reservations will be filled for the 2022 model year, Ford is ramping up its planned production significantly over the next couple of years in response to this greater than expected demand.
As such, there are quite a few people out there that will need to make a decision on what trim level and packages they want to pair with their 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, and we’re here to help. Here’s a complete breakdown of what’s available, which will hopefully make spec’ing out your new EV pickup a bit easier.
Lightning Pro
The Lightning Pro is the commercial-grade work truck of sorts in the F-150 Lightning lineup, though that doesn’t mean quite a few non-fleet customers will also end up buying one, thanks to its base price of $39,974 and a relatively decent list of standard equipment. That list includes standard 2.4 kW Pro Power Onboard, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0, a 12-inch infotainment screen, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, and Sync 4.
One challenge of the Pro is that non-fleet customers can only equip it with the standard range battery, which nets an estimated 230 miles of range. There are two available packages for the Pro – the Trailer Tow Package, which costs $865, and the Tow Technology Package, which costs $1,948.
XLT
Stepping up to the XLT will set you back at least $52,974, but it also unlocks the ability to upgrade to the extended range battery and its 300 miles of estimated range, though that will cost you a significant $19,500. The XLT adds a few niceties over the Pro, including fixed running boards, Ford’s Interior Work Surface, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and rear privacy glass.
The XLT 312A Package adds even more for the cost of $9,500, including 20-inch Dark Carbonized wheels, 9.6 kW Pro Power Onboard, Intelligent Access, a heated steering wheel, a 10-way adjustable power driver’s seat, heated front seats, a power tailgate, and more. As is the case with the Pro, there are two additional available packages – the Trailer Tow Package, which costs $865, and the Tow Technology Package, which costs $1,395 when paired with XLT trim.
Lariat
The more luxurious F-150 Lightning Lariat starts out at $67,474 and is also available with either the standard or extended range battery, the latter of which is a $10,000 option in this case. The Lariat adds quite a few more features over the XLT trim, including Ford’s 15.5-inch infotainment screen running Sync 4A, an 8-speaker B&O sound system, wireless phone charging pad, power up and down tailgate, 10-way leather heated and ventilated front seats, power-folding mirrors, 20-inch Dark Carbonized wheels, and ambient lighting. As is the case with the XLT, the Lariat can be paired with the Trailer Tow Package for $865, or the Tow Technology Package for $1,395.
Platinum
The range-topping Platinum boasts a base MSRP of $90,874 but also comes equipped with virtually every available option as standard equipment. That includes the extended range battery, Max Trailer Tow Package, and Tow Technology Package, along with 22-inch wheels, Phone as a Key functionality, BlueCruise, an 18-speaker B&O sound system, Nirvana leather heated and ventilated seats, Multi-Countour and Active Motion front seats, and aluminum and wood trim.
