The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is pretty much right around the corner, and production of the pickup is slated to being in a few short months.

Production of the Ford F-150 Lightning began just a short while ago in April at the Ford Rogue Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan, sending off the first all-electric full-size truck in The Blue Oval’s lineup. The truck is steadily arriving at dealerships and is increasingly being delivered to retail customers too. That said, the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is pretty much right around the corner, and production of the pickup is slated to being in a few short months.

According to sources familiar with the matter, 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning production is expected to kick off on October 10th, 2022. Perhaps not coincidentally, the electrified pickup will begin assembly on the same day as the gasoline Ford F-150, which is produced at the Ford Dearborn Truck plant and the Ford Kansas City Assembly plant.

Ford is to make incremental changes to the pickup, although it is expected to feature an Android-based infotainment system into at least some parts of the lineup. At this time, it’s not clear how the Android system will differ from the current Sync 4 infotainment system implemented in the electric pickup, but it will host a variety of useful third-party apps.

The first wave of orders for the F-150 Lightning opened up back in January, allowing interested parties to receive an invitation to turn that reservation into an order for the 2022 model year. However, due to the unprecedented amount of interest in the electric pickup, Ford stated that any reservation holder who did not receive an invitation to order a 2022 model year vehicle will have a chance at procuring a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning instead. There’s certainly plenty of interest in the electric pickup, as Ford will considerably ramp up its production in order to meet demand by 2024.
