The History of Betty Rae’s

Betty Rae’s was born back when David and Mary met while at college in Columbia, Missouri. Ice cream was a common interest for them, with both of them working at the same local homemade ice cream shop.

Soon, they concocted their own unique flavor: Lavender Honey—which, to this day, is still a favorite. After graduating, they eventually found themselves in Kansas City, where they fulfilled their longstanding dream of opening their own storefront. David’s grandmother was named Betty Rae, so it was only fitting they honored her love of sweets by naming the store after her.
Over the years, their company has expanded, and they now have an Ice Cream Truck in the River Market District, as well.
